3 Signs Your Mindset Is Improving – The Last One May Surprise You!
I am so glad you’re here. One thing that clients ask me a lot is, “How do I know my mindset is improving? What are the leading indicators? How will I know when it’s happening, and all this work that I’m putting in is worth it?” First of all, it’s a little bit like working out or starting a new hobby. Generally, other people are going to notice that your mindset has improved even before you do, mostly because we tend to pay more attention to other people than we do ourselves. I’ve got three signs for you that your mindset is improving. The last one will probably surprise you.
You’re Freaking Out Less
The first one is you’re freaking out less and less about things that used to put you into a tailspin. Think about how you would have reacted to stressful situations that are happening in your life now, six months ago, three months ago, or even a year ago. I have a client who recently had a teenage son wreck the family car. What was so interesting is she’s like, “I am pissed. I am so frustrated with him, but we’re handling it.”
Notice how you react to things that used to trigger you and cause real problems. Your mindset is improving if they are much easier to deal with now. Share on XI stopped her and said, “Do you realize that this is a much bigger issue than something that may have happened to you three months ago, but the way that you’re reacting to it is way better?” She said, “I was thinking about getting a new car anyway. We’ll probably get this repaired, go ahead and trade it in, and get something new.” That was an automatic reframe. Notice the ways that you’re reacting to things that used to trigger you and cause real problems, and how much easier they are for you to deal with now.
You’re Not Having Bad Days
Number two, you’re noticing that you have bad events, bad situations, maybe even a bad morning, a bad afternoon, but you’re not having bad days. The reframer in me wants to say there’s no such thing as a bad day. It’s all about the way you’re looking at it. When you’ve trained on reframing, when you’re working on your mindset, and when you’re making sure it’s empowering you, you start seeing more things as happening for you instead of to you. As a result, you come out of those negative situations, or what you would have called negative situations before, more quickly. You notice that you might have some experiences that you don’t love, but they don’t turn into a bad day, a bad week, or a bad month. That is a sign of huge progress.
If you’re noticing that you want to be thinking better, you already are. Share on XYou’re More Aware Of How You Think
This is the third sign, and this one might surprise you because you could be saying, “My mindset hasn’t improved.” You think that you’re noticing more often how you’re not looking at something the way you wish that you were. The thing is, you’ve become so aware of the way that you’re thinking and getting better at controlling your thoughts. You’re not giving yourself enough credit because you’re noticing how things could be reframed. You’re noticing how you could think about it in a more empowering way.
When you’re thinking, “I’m not thinking positively enough,” that can be a sign that the increased awareness and increased standard have become such an integral part of your life. You’re ignoring it. All of us tend to notice more what’s happening with other people than we necessarily do with ourselves. If you’re noticing that you want to be thinking better and better, guaranteed, you already are, and your standards have risen. You’re doing much better than you’re giving yourself credit for. Whether you’re displaying one of these three signs or all three of these signs, stay on the path. It only gets better from here. I promise. Here’s to your success.
