Reframe Refresher With 3 Reframe Examples
Hi there. I am so glad you’re here. It has been too long since we’ve practiced reframes together, so let’s do that today, shall we? Now, you may already know this, but I live in South Florida. In South Florida, landscaping is a big deal, probably because the grass is green all year long, things grow here really well. Mine needs to be updated for months, I think eight months. I have had the hardest time getting someone to show up, not only for a quote but to do the work. I always think it’s funny when you’re trying to give people money and they make it difficult for you to give them money.
Somewhere along the way, I realized that for some reason this was just not happening, and maybe I was supposed to do this landscaping myself, which is a huge joke because I’m not good at that. That’s not my jam. That’s not where my skillset lies. I thought, “I’ll figure this out. At some point, I will understand why it is that I’m supposed to do this.” This past weekend, I got one of my closest friends to help me do the physical labor, landscape, and redid my whole front yard. I finally knew why that worked out for me. Why was it so beneficial for me to do this myself? The reason was it was stressful and it was a little difficult because I didn’t exactly know what I was doing, but it gave me a chance to practice visualizing what I wanted and letting the how take care of itself. I focused on the what and the how came to me.
It’s funny when you are paying people to do something for you, and they make it even more difficult for you. You should stop this at once and try to do the task yourself. Share on XLiterally, in the middle of landscaping on Saturday, I am all covered in sweat, I go, I lay down, and I just visualize what I want this landscaping to look like. It calms me down. It gives me peace. It gives me a few ideas. I go out there and spoiler alert, my landscaping looks good. There’s no reason that should have happened. It’s not in my wheelhouse, but I was able to visualize it and make it happen. Great reframe. I am now thrilled that I couldn’t hire someone to do the work. By the way, I think I spent $350 and it would’ve easily been a few thousand if somebody had done what I did.
Second one. I told you I had free labor from my best friend and he’s great about helping me with projects and doing things like that. However, sometimes he has mishaps during projects. It’s a running joke with us. The mishap that he had on this project was he cut my internet wire, so there was no internet to my entire house. Normally, that’s not that big of a deal, you’d think, but I have forgotten all the things that the internet runs in your home. All of the television runs off of it. My heating and cooling system, I operate with the internet. It was hilarious, but here’s what’s interesting. Yes, he cut it on Saturday afternoon, but kindly he called the cable provider and they came out the very next day in the morning to take care of it for me.
I was so tired from the landscaping that I probably couldn’t have used the internet on Saturday anyway. They came out and they were super kind because they normally charge you when you’re the idiot that cuts the wire, which we totally did. The guy said we were so cheerful and he had such a good time doing it with us and we were helping him find it that he didn’t even charge me. I now know where that wire is. If you’re a homeowner and you’ve ever had it cut, I have a photo, I have a diagram. I’ve never had that the entire time I’ve had my home. It did work out for me for that to happen.
Last one. These are all landscape-themed reframes. I do not like rain. I am someone who lives in sunny Florida because sunshine feeds my soul. When it is cloudy or rainy for any period of time, normally I’m the one who’s disappointed, sad about it, grumpy, and what have you. It has been raining now for four straight days, which normally would have me going, “Where is the sun? What is going on?” However, what you may not know about landscaping is once you plant new grass and new plants and all these new things, they need to be watered, at least where I live, twice a day for about 30 minutes. For the past five days, Mother Nature has helped me water all of my new plants. No, I’m not upset about the rain. I’m excited about the benefit that I got an hour back every day for all five of these days.
Very basic. When you have things happen, you could focus on how it is not working out the way you want it to, or you can work to find the way that it is happening for you, not to you. 1) You’ll learn a great lesson. 2) You’ll feel better, and that is the most important one. 3) The more you do it, the more your unconscious mind, your unpaid assistant is going to automatically look for the way things are working out for you. When that happens, you are happier more often. When that happens, you see solutions instead of problems. When that happens, you are the person that people say, “They’re so damn lucky. Everything always works out for them.” Who wouldn’t want to be that person? That’s what I want for you. Here’s to your success.
