Focus On This To Reach Your Goals Faster
Hi, there. I am so glad you’re here. One of the things that people ask me all the time is, “How can I get to this goal or that goal faster? How can I use my mindset to get the life that I want as quickly as possible?” Whether that’s a monetary goal, a fitness goal, a relationship goal, a happiness goal, whatever it is, the same thing is going to get you there as quickly as possible, and that is focusing on what you want. Now, we’ve talked about that a lot, and sometimes it can be confusing because you’ll think that you’re focused on what you want, but you’re actually focused on the absence of what you want.
Tune Into Your Feelings
I want to give you the quickest way that you can know whether or not you’re actually focused on the thing that’s important to you, the thing you really want. It is to tune in to your feelings. Because when you’re focused on what you really want to have, you feel good about it. You feel excited, you feel empowered, you see solutions and opportunities and ways that you can break things down into small steps and get there over time and much more quickly than you would have thought.
If you happen to be focusing on the fact that you don’t have what you want, you’re going to feel anxiety or anger or sadness or jealousy. Our emotions can be a really key indicator in our mindset and where we’re focusing because if we’re focusing on the thing that we actually do want, we’re always going to feel pretty good. We may not feel amazing, but we’re going to feel motivated and empowered. Empowered is really that word I keep saying because you feel like getting the thing that you want is completely within your control, completely within the realm of possibility for you.
When you are focused on the other side of the thing that you want, and remember, this doesn’t have to do with your words. You can be saying, “I want to make $100,000 next year,” but what you’re focused on is the fact that you feel like you don’t make enough money or it seems tight to pay your bills or you don’t feel like you ever have enough. If you’re looking at it as something that you want to do and you’re focused on all the things that will be great about when you have it, then you’re feeling more empowered.
Focus On Gratitude
If you can’t get to that place of feeling good about the goal that you’re trying to achieve, then the next step is to focus on gratitude for things that you already have because sometimes that goal, that thing that you want to get is just a little too far away. Focusing on gratitude for all the things that you have right now will put you in a more empowered place to then think about that next goal. Think about the small things every day that you can think of that you’re really grateful for in your life, whether it’s a person, an experience, a show you watched, a book that you read, the way the sun feels on your skin, it’s starting to be spring, whatever you can find to have gratitude about, that will really help if you’re having a hard time focusing on the area of what you want in a way that feels good to you.
Focus On Other Things
If you’re saying, “Okay, April, that sounds great. I’ll focus on my gratitude. Every time I try and go back to that goal, I still don’t feel great about it.” In that case, I would tell you for a little while just ignore it. Focus on other things, focus on things that you do feel good about, things that feel easy for you to achieve because remember, all of the success that we’ve had in the past is transferable to the new thing, but sometimes it may just feel like too big of a leap.
Remember, all of the success that we've had in the past is transferable to the new thing. Share on XOnce you’ve put it out there that it’s a goal, your unconscious mind knows that you want to accomplish that and you are going to see more and more opportunities and ways to make that happen. If it doesn’t feel good to think about it even after you focused on the gratitude, then focus on other things that do, and watch how those things just pop up.
Remember, your unconscious mind is your unpaid assistant. It is going to be helping you whether you’re consciously focusing on that thing that you want or not.
